About

Born in the boreal forests of western Canada, Linda Lencovic now lives and works in England, carrying with her a sensibility shaped by landscapes, migration, and cultural hybridity. As the daughter of multi‑ethnic immigrants — and through her own experiences as a foreigner living abroad — she reflects on the shifting tensions between self and society. Her practice explores questions of identity, race, and belonging, often focusing on fleeting moments in which boundaries blur and understanding subtly changes.

Lencovic holds a BA in Fine Art from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design. Her work is represented in collections across the UK and internationally, and she has exhibited widely, including group shows at Sotheby’s London, Christie’s London, Tate Modern, Whitechapel Gallery, the Freud Museum, and Garboushian Gallery. She has been shortlisted for several awards, including the Celeste Art Prize (2007), the Barbican Surreal Competition (2010), and the FRINGEMK Painting Prize (2010).
